The Nervous System is a system of cells, tissues and organs that regulates the body's responses to internal and external stimuli. It consists of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It is by far the most important system of your body.
The spine houses and protects the spinal cord, which is the information highway of our being. The spinal cord extends from the base of the skull through the vertebrae of the spinal column. It is continuous with the brain stem, and like the brain it is encased in a triple sheath of membranes called the dura mater. Thirty-one pairs of spinal nerves arise from the sides of the spinal cord. The spinal cord carries information from the body's nerves to the brain and signals from the brain to the body.
It is through our nervous system that we perceive, adapt to, and interact with the world, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. As we live in a society that is constantly bombarding us with information (computers, television, cell phones), it is not surprising that our nervous systems have information overload. It is critical for your nervous system to be free of interference so that information can flow freely. A nervous system that has interference may cause the inability to adapt to stress, pain, tension, irritability, exhaustion and disease.
Network Chiropractic Care works with your nervous system to unwind the tension and open up the pathways in your spinal cord so that information from your environment to your brain and your brain to your environment can be processed much quicker. When your nervous system becomes less tense, more coordinated, more integrated and aware, then you are better able to function, to heal, and respond to your needs on all levels.
